Happy Birthday Mum :)

Mum just called the bank enquiring about her account, the bank representative had to ask about her details, and i heard her say, 'The 10th of the 9th...'. And you could hear her giggle saying thank you. Moral of the story: strangers can make you happy.

I woke up this morning and said, 'Happy Birthday Mum.' and gave her a kiss on the cheek. I think that'd be the best present I have ever given to her. She bought a cake for herself today, how cute :P But silly. Very silly.

I remember when I was 9, it was mum's birthday and i just came home from school. Mum was at work and didn't come until 11.30. So i spent the whole afternoon thinking of what I could get her. I had no car. I had no money (well..75 cents in my pocket). I wanted to make mum a chocolate cake. I didn't know how to make a cake without dad. And dad wasn't at home. Then, miraculously, the bulb above my head lit up!

It was 11.30 and I sat infront of the window watching cars go by, waiting for mum to come home. Back then, 8.30 was the time when ONLY the grown ups could stay up and 'watch their tv shows'. So staying up at 11.30 was a lethal crime for me.
When she walked through the door, I sprouted with excitement. 'Happy Birthday Mum!! Look what I made for you!!' In the small glass bowl I held, was a brown blob with a candle stuck in the middle that wasn't even lit. My recipe? Microwaved Freddo Frogs & fridged so the candle could settle in the center. I was a kid. You couldn't grasp the concept of poker faces yet. I followed her around the house asking her to try it, putting on puppy dog eyes. Ohh thinking about it now, I felt sorry for mum for having to put up with me! Hahaha
